A 20+ year veteran of the media industry, Dashi Media
Group Owner & Founder Daniel Gotera brings a wealth of knowledge in a very
rapidly changing world of media, communications, marketing and content
creation. In starting DMG, Daniel’s goal is to offer services to clients that
will help them navigate the seemingly daunting task to breakthrough the “noise”
in what appears to be a never-ending flow of information.
Daniel started his media career at a very young age,
creating stat books for professional teams and handing them out to family and
friends. At the time, it seemed like a fun afternoon activity, but to his
surprise, it soon blossomed into a passion. At age 15 he began writing for a
Spanish newspaper in Houston, at age 16 he landed his first internship at
Telemundo Houston and then, he was accepted into the Medill School of
Journalism at Northwestern University where we would later graduate with a BA
in Broadcast Journalism.
Daniel’s media career has allowed him to be around and cover
some of the biggest events on the sports calendar in the last 2 decades. As an
anchor & reporter at KHOU-TV, the CBS affiliate in Houston, he covered 3
Super Bowls, 4 World Series, 2 MLS Cups, 3 Final Fours and multiple NCAA
Tournaments. He also served as executive producer and director on a variety of
documentary projects that earned him recognition beyond the city limits. For
his work, Daniel earned 5 Emmy Awards, 2 Edward R. Murrow Awards and 10
Associated Press Awards for reporting. In 2016, he was named Best Sports
Reporter in Texas.
After his time at KHOU, Daniel transitioned to work in the
Communications and Media Relations field serving as Senior Director of
Communications at the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority, a sports
commission tasked with maintaining Houston’s professional stadiums and
attracting big sporting events to the city. While at the HCHSA, he was tasked
with running the Houston Sports Hall of Fame and worked closely with FIFA as
the city prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This experience led Daniel to branch out and start Dashi
Media Group, a venture he hopes will help others maximize the potential of
their companies and of their stories.
